Jack (John William Arthur) Lobb
Jack (John William Arthur) Lobb, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 15, 2018, at Wild Rose Manor in Grande Prairie, at the age of 83 years.
Jack was born in Red Deer, AB, on January 26, 1935. As a young child, he lived in the Chisolm/Legal/Slave Lake areas, where one of his first homes was a granary. Later on, he moved with his family to Grande Prairie. As a young man, he worked in the lumber industry and at Beaver Lumber. For most of his working life he was a valued employee of Canadian Freightways and worked there until his retirement.
Jack loved cars. He owned many, and really enjoyed driving and taking lots of road trips with his friends.
Love bells rang when he met Marie, and they married on June 12, 1971, in South Burnaby, BC. They travelled a lot together. In later years, Jack and Marie went on many happy winter holidays to Hawaii.
Jack belonged to the Elks, and he enjoyed their meetings and activities. He was an avid bowler, with many trophies to his name. Golf was also a passion with Jack, and he spent many a fun day golfing with friends and family.
In later years, Jack had health issues, and moved to Wild Rose Manor. Although he wasn’t as active anymore, Jack still stayed in touch with friends and family by visits and by phone.
Jack leaves to mourn his loss his brothers: Darryl (Lynne) Hanson, and Brian (Teresa) Hanson; nieces and nephews: Dianne Lowe, Kate (Darrell) Blimke, and Sam (Diane) Lowe; as well as his wife Marie’s family.
He was predeceased by his wife Marie, mother Diana Hanson, father John Lobb, step-father Albert Hanson, sister Jean Lowe, brother in-law Sam Lowe Sr. and sister Yvonne.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at 11:00am, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.) with a lunch served after. Interment of ashes to follow at Grande Prairie Cemetery (84th Ave. & 112th St.).
