Bud is survived by his loving wife, Muriel (Jacques) Schnuth of 76 years of marriage; one son Barry (Noreen); Granddaughter Dianna Schnuth (Toronto); Grandson Douglas Schnuth (Medicine Hat), and his children Keeley and Carter; daughter-in-law Joani Schnuth, Nanoose Bay; and Granddaughter Melissia (Cliff) Bauer, Victoria. Also surviving is brother-in-law, Leslie (Anne) Jacques, Surrey, and nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. Bud was predeceased by two sons, David Lynn and Richard Dwight; his parents Howard (Lena) Schnuth; In-laws William (Margaret) Jacques; Bud’s family Raymond (Marion), William (Arlene), June (Keith) Culham, Jean (infancy); Muriel’s family, Eileen (James) Watts, Alan (Marguerite) Jacques, Doreen (Tomas) Gatland, Marjorie (Donald) Montgomery, Donovan Jacques (infancy), Clyde Jacques (infancy). Bud was born in Freedom, Pennsylvania, USA on Jan. 19, 1917, the eldest son of Howard and Lena Schnuth. Bud got his education at Jamesville and Hazlet Schools. Bud and Muriel were married on May 24, 1941 at the home of Muriel’s parents at Roseray, Sk. They raised three sons: Barry, Lynn and Dwight. During the Second World War, Bud was trained as an airplane mechanic and was based out of Yorkton. After the war Bud and Muriel returned to Hazlet and farmed with his Dad (Howard). After Howard Sr. retired, Bud farmed with his brother Bill for a few years. Bud and Barry farmed together, and when Bud retired, Barry took over the farming. In Bud’s growing up years, he played baseball, hockey, went to dances, house parties and loved playing cards. Bud was one of the men of the Hazlet District, who helped build the original curling and skating rink. The whole family became curlers and spent many days/nights at the rink and won their share of games. Bud and Muriel have been avid campers and fishermen for years. In 1975, they went to Mesa, Arizona and continued to travel south for 28 years, golfing three time a week (walking the course), and playing cards every night. Bud was a true farmer at heart, always talking to Barry about how much the crop yielded and what the sample looked like. Barry took Bud out last harvest to see the Levorson crew combining lentils on his own land. He really enjoyed that trip to the farm. Bud belonged to the Hazlet Legion, Hazlet Co-op, Curling club, Masonic Lodge. He was always a very active member of the community of Hazlet. Bud and Muriel purchased a condo in Pioneer Estates (Swift Current) and then moved to Cypress House (Swift Current) a few years ago. Burial will be a private family graveside service on May 19, with a come and go tea in the Great Room, Cypress House. Donations are gratefully accepted to the Canadian Cancer Society. Warren’s Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
