Obituary of Hilda Lougheed
Passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital in Moose Jaw, SK. Hilda, at the age of 92 was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Kenneth « John » (1983), her grandson Dion Lougheed (1974), and by her daughter in-law Debbie Ann (2017). She will be lovingly missed by her 4 children: Terry (Debbie Lee), David, Chris (Margaret), Steve (Pamela); 10 grandchildren: Sean (Kathy), Michele (Edward), Natasha (Calvin), Richard (Kristi) Nichole (Brian), Michael (Teresa), Ryan (Cherrie), Jeffrey, Jordan and Dylan (Tiffany), and 24 great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Karli, Sarah, Victoria, Kevin, Carissa, Taylah, Jyke, Riley, Shae, Bodie, Shelby, Stacia, Parker, James, Anika, Emma, Lily, Josh, and Isabel and 2 great-great-grandchildren: River and Mylo. Hilda was pre-deceased by her brother Jim Salmon, and sister Beryl Stewart (Allan) She will be greatly missed by nieces, Jacquie Walter and her children Keri Walter, Shauna Walter and by niece Louisa DeSauzmares, as well as by many other family members in Canada and in the UK. Mom was born April 4, 1926 in Darlington, England, to Harry and Gladys Glasby. She met her husband to be Kenneth Isaac (John) Lougheed, a serviceman in the Royal Canadian Air Force, while working at a local movie theatre. They were married October 21, 1944 in Darlington, and she came to Canada in 1946 as a war-bride. She landed in Halifax and travelled by train to Winnipeg. John drove to Winnipeg to pickup his new bride. Their married life started on the farm, seven miles North of Brownlee. Hilda and John had four sons while living on the farm. They retired from farming in 1968 and moved into a home in Eyebrow built by John’s parent, Ike and Minnie. While in Eyebrow Mom was involved with the Town and Country Club and was also was a regular at the Senior Citizens Centre where she loved playing games. She would often bake pies and cookies to contribute to annual Sports Days and school events. Later in years, Mom became involved in the Free Methodist Church in Eyebrow. She always enjoyed a good visit with family and many of her dear friends. Mom lived in Eyebrow following Dad’s passing (1983) for 29 years whereupon she moved into Moose Jaw because of health concerns and to be closer to her family. She lived at Crescent Park Retirement Villa and later Extendicare until she passed away peacefully, May 6, 2018, with family by her side. A thank you is extended to the management and staff of Crescent Park Villa, Extendicare and a special thank you to the Staff at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital for the special care given to Mom. A private family service will be held and mom will be laid to rest beside dad at Rosedale Cemetery.
