Henry Podmoroff
August 5, 2018
On Sunday, August 5, 2018, Henry « Hank » Podmoroff, age 79, left family and friends and departed on his final camping trip. Left out of his immediate travel plans are his wife of 58 years, Elaine, his children, Bonny of North Carolina, Kim of Calgary, and the entire West Kelowna Chapter: Scott (Dianna), and grandsons Jayden, Tye, and Marshyl.
Henry was very much an autodidact, with an incredible mind, mastering everything from carpentry to auto mechanics. In his younger years he was an avid hunter, fisherman and camper, and was known to enjoy a bevvy or two. He was a charter member of the Sunshine Trailer Club, as well as the Calgary Lethbridge Trailer Club. For more than 30 years, he owned his own business and was very particular about the quality of work he produced. He was generous, often to a fault, and mostly showed his love by « doing » rather than with affection. That was his way.
Death: August 5, 2018
Henry served for a time as the West Hillhurst Sports Director and was an avid sports enthusiast. He considered having a funeral with all the bells and whistles, but he couldn’t arrange for 6 Calgary Flames pallbearers. He thought it would have been fitting to have them let him down one last time. Instead, he opted for a simple cremation and a family gathering to be held at a later date.
We know he’s relaxing next to the campfire, beer in hand, keeping it stoked in anticipation of our arrival. We expect some big fish stories when next we see him.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Henry Podmoroff.source
