OBITUARY
Mrs. Henrietta Wong
January 15, 1927 – June 16, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Henrietta Wong (nee Chow), age 91, on June 16, 2018. Henrietta passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones after a brief battle with cancer.
Henrietta is predeceased by her husband Gordon and sister June. She is survived by her sons Derek (Caroline) and Cory, daughter Karen (Gerry), grandchildren Cara (Anders), Jeremy, Lauren, Emma, Brooke, and Caleb, sisters Anne and Mae, brother Ray (Loretta) and many other family and long-time friends.
Then known as Mary, she grew up in the Chinatowns of Vancouver and Victoria. After marrying Gordon in 1949, they lived in Whitehorse, Yukon and Sylvan Lake, Alberta before settling in Vancouver where they raised their family and were the proprietors of Derek’s Coffee Bar on Fraser Street for many years. Henrietta had a passion for cribbage, bingo, and tai chi. A devoted and loving mom and grandma, Henrietta will be missed immensely and remembered always.
A celebration of life will be held at Forest Lawn Chapel located at 3789 Royal Oak Ave, Burnaby, BC on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at 2:30 pm.
