OBITUARY
Gregg MacKay Jollymore
February 23, 1959 – June 7, 2018
It is with incredible sadness that we announce that Gregg MacKay Jollymore passed away suddenly but peacefully on June 7, 2018 on Brule Point, Nova Scotia – the beautiful family farm where Gregg grew up, and a place full of love and happy memories for his entire family. Gregg will be forever loved and remembered by Charlene Jollymore, his wife of 38 years, his two children Ashlee (Paul) and Breann (Erik), and granddaughter Madeline MacKay Tremblay. His also leaves behind his mother Pauline and father Dale, as well as his brother Mark Jollymore, sister in law Michelle Schreuer, nephew Alexander, his sisters Gloria and Cynthia Jollymore, as well as many extended family members and friends. Gregg was born in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia on February 23, 1959, and spent an enormously happy childhood working alongside his father and family on their farm. Upon graduation, Gregg came to Alberta to begin a 40-year career in the oil industry. He met Charlene shortly after moving to Alberta; together they built an extraordinary family and life, a product of much loving work and devotion, and a legacy that will endure. Gregg was exceptionally dedicated to a career that allowed him to travel the world, including the High Arctic, United States, Russia, Pakistan, Iraq, Turkey, Dubai, and across Canada. His career satisfied his far-ranging curiosity and intellect, allowing him to attain a high level of achievement while providing every advantage for his family. His dedication to his job never interfered with the fact that his family was always his first priority. He instilled in his children a sense of being strong and certain of themselves in an uncertain world. Charlene, Breann, and Ashlee always knew of his immense pride in his family, and of his fierce love and devotion for them. It was important to Charlene and Gregg that their family had the same memories Gregg did of Brule Point, and so they returned every summer to build memories that will be forever cherished. Gregg recently retired as Vice President of Grant Production Testing Services in Calgary. He embraced his retirement by travelling with Charlene, staying active, spending time with friends, and enjoying their beautiful home in Cochrane on the threshold of the Rocky Mountains. His family is certain that although his time came far too soon, he passed with a sense that his world was beginning anew, flush with opportunity and possibility. His family and friends cannot express how much Gregg will be missed, nor how much he was loved in life. He will always be remembered for his incredible (often mischievous) sense of humor, his huge laugh, and his loving heart. A Celebration of Life will take place in Gregg’s honor on August 30th at 2 p.m. in the Hall of Vision at The Cochrane Ranchehouse (101 Ranchehouse Road, Cochrane, Alberta, T4C 2K8). In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta: #200, 119 14th Street N.W., Calgary, AB, T2N 1Z6, www.heartandstroke.ca.
