Obituary of Grant Wilkinson
After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Grant passed away peacefully at home with Laurie by his side on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the age of 62. Grant was the beloved partner of Laurie Ioannou and dear father of Stephanie. He was a loving son of Lloyd and Nancy Wilkinson, and dear brother of Jeffrey and the late Bill (2016). Grant will also be missed and remembered by Stephanie’s mother, Karen.
Grant retired from the Halton Regional Police Service in 2009 after 34 years service. In retirement, he worked for the Office of the Independent Police Review Director. In 2012, he was awarded the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Medal for his work with The Special Olympics.
Grant’s family will receive relatives and friends at the HENRY WALSER FUNERAL HOME, 507 FREDERICK ST., KITCHENER on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 12 noon until 12:45 p.m. A memorial service will take place in the chapel of the HENRY WALSER FUNERAL HOME at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 followed by a reception.
Private cremation has taken place.
Special thanks to the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre at the Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, and Dr. Shaquil Kassam, Dr. Alisha Kassam and the community palliative care nurses for all their support and care.
As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations in Grant’s honour to the Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
