Obituary for
Grant Burton Chevrette
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of the anchor of our Chevrette family on Tuesday December 4, 2018 at the Timmins and District Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife Agnes, whom he adored for 42 years; his three children, whom he loved unconditionally and guided through every step of their lives, Amber (Yoland), Lee-Ann (Hugh), and Brent (Michèle). He is also survived by his three step-children, who were very dear to his heart, and treated as though they were his own: Rob, Catherine, and Natalie (Jason), as well as his only sibling Gayle (Burton) and nephew Darren. Always closest to his heart were his beautiful grandchildren: Karine (Nicholas), Geneviève (Owen), Ryan, Aven, Ronan, Isabelle, Téah, Célu, Léo, Ella, and Ethan. He was predeceased by his mother Margaret (Peggy) Page in 1968 and father Ludger in 1979.Grant proudly retired 16 years ago and was well respected during his 36 year career with the City of Timmins. As a young man, Grant worked with his father prospecting in the bush of northern Quebec, and also as a news reporter and DJ at CKGB. There was another side to Grant, which only his chosen circle had the privilege to witness. He embraced quality family time, dancing with Agnes, listening to his favourite music, playing the piano, cooking, gardening, bonfires, curling, fishing, golfing and, most importantly, his little slice of heaven “Red Pine Point”. There are no words to describe our loss. Our lives will forever be changed and we have all been profoundly enriched by his legacy. We love you with all our hearts. As you always said: ”’bye for now.” Respecting his wishes there will be no visitation and no funeral. Cremation has taken place. Remembrance donations to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation will be greatly appreciated. Cremation services have been entrusted with LESSARD-STEPHENS Funeral Home.
