Gloria Dorothy Cormier
After a courageous journey with cancer, Gloria Dorothy Cormier (nee Nieman) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends into the loving arms her Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener Ontario. Gloria will be fondly remembered for her love for others, strength, love for life, hospitality and tenacity by her beloved husband of 47 years Joseph Oscar Cormier, her sons David Cormier, Peter Cormier and Kristy (Striegel) and granddaughter Ella. She was predeceased by her father, Allan Charles Nieman, granddaughter Abygayle Gloira Cormier, and mother Dorothy Lillan Nieman (nee Passaw). Survived by her siblings, Deborah Graham, Mark Nieman and Wendy (nee Becker), Cathy and Murray Ritsema, Becky and Michael Holleran; and several nieces, nephews and many sweet friends who held a special place in her heart. Gloria has left a legacy that demonstrated a positive attitude, a servant heart and a loving spirit that touched so many lives. She had endless energy as an Educational Assistant working with special needs children for over 20 years for the Waterloo and District Catholic School board, Volunteered as a peer support for 20 years with the Canadian Cancer Society. She was a vibrant woman who gave her all to her social activities that included: The Red Hatters, TOPS and the St. Joseph Choir to name a few. Wherever Gloria was there was warmth in the room and kindness was given to all. A heartfelt thank you is extended to Dr. Califaretti and the team at the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre for the years of dedicated health care. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held in her honour on Monday, May 12, 2018 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 2723 Victoria St. N. Breslau. A time of reflection will be held at 8:15 pm. A private family internment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
