Suddenly and peacefully at his home on Wednesday October 31, 2018. Gerard « Gerry » Rau of Goderich in his 84th year. Beloved husband of the late Dolores (Knapp) Rau for 53 years. Loving father of Claire (Paul) Gear of Cambridge, Tom (Cindy) of Geneva, Il., Mark (Christine) of Kitchener and Debbie (David) Mahood of Stratford. Dear Papa of Stephen and Lucas, Andrew and Caroline, Charlotte, Victoria, Ashley, Katie, Christopher, Danielle and great grandfather of Abigail and Aiden. Brother of John Paul Rau, Sister Rose Marie Rau, Annette Denomme, Clarence Rau, Maurice Rau, Dennis Rau and Jo-Ann Sheardown. Predeceased by brother Louis Rau. Beloved friend, brother-in-law and uncle to many. Friends will be received at McCallum & Palla Funeral Home, Cambria Rd., at East St., Goderich on Sunday November 4, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, North Street, Goderich, on Monday November 5, 2018 at 11 AM. Cremation to follow. Interment of ashes in St. Peter’s Cemetery, St. Joseph. Knights of Columbus prayers will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 6:45PM. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society gratefully acknowledged.
