Gerald Charles Miller
May 6, 1945 – October 15, 2018
Peacefully on October 15, after a lengthy illness, Dad passed away at the age of 73 at the Health Sciences Center surrounded by his family and friends. Gerry was a cherished father, grandfather and friend. He was predeceased by his parents Jack and Cecilia Miller, his sister Judy Behnke, and his former wife Lynda Miller (Singbell).
Gerry will be remembered by his children Teresa (Kris), Roger (Bonnie) and Andrea (Marshall), his grandchildren Matthew, Candace, Chantel (Darryl) and Keenan, his brother-in-law Bob Behnke and dear friends Kitty Kelly and Wayne Tremblay. Also leaving to mourn are his niece and nephew and extended family and many friends.
Gerry started his career in the health care field working as an orderly at Health Science Center where he met Lynda, and eventually married and started a family. He worked as a mechanic and health care aid later in life, until his retirement. He was an avid reader and learner and enjoyed word puzzles, computers and astronomy. Wayne was like a brother to him in his later years and they spent many fun times together. His excursions with Kitty brought him much joy and happiness, and she was a very special friend to him.
The family would like to thank the staff at Health Sciences Center, GH4, CCU and especially his nurse Robert, who treated him with much dignity in his last days.
Gerry will be interred with his parents at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery. There will be a private burial at a later date.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Canadian Liver Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
