OBITUARY
George « Bruce » Albert Bruce Oliver
June 9, 1925 – May 15, 2018
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Dad, Bruce, at the Comox Valley Hospital on May 15, 2018 at the age of 92.
Bruce was born in St Mary’s, Ontario to Hugh and Margaret Ann Oliver. His life, besides being long, was a full one. Growing up as a farm boy in Ontario, he and his older brothers later enlisted in the Armed Services in World War II. Bruce joined the RCAF, and found that it was a good fit for him. With his new wife, Edna, beside him, he launched a career that spanned from 1943 to 1980, when he retired ranked as Base Chief Warrant Officer.
After losing Edna in 2003, Bruce moved to the Comox Valley to be closer to Craig’s family (and enjoy a longer golfing season). He married his second beloved partner, Audrey, in 2010.
Bruce played as hard as he worked and was an enthusiastic curler (as Skip), lawn bowler (club President), golfer, and harmonica player (in both the Happy Gang and the Heartstrings).
Though he gravitated toward positions of leadership, Bruce was an unassuming man that we will remember as generous, charming, and so very, very sweet natured. We’ll miss you Dad.
Bruce is predeceased by son, Richard; wife, Edna (née Greenhalgh); daughter, Lauren; brothers John, Hugh, Grant, Stanley; sister, Beth; and wife, Audrey (née Ewing).
He will be lovingly remembered by son, Craig (Rebecca); grandson, Richard (Lynne); granddaughter, Megan (Nick); and great-granddaughter, Scarlett.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de George Bruce Albert Bruce Oliver 2018.source
