Obituary for
Frederick Thomas Leydon
P. Eng.
Our dearest Fred passed peacefully from this world to eternal life on Monday, October 29, 2018, surrounded by the love of his daughter Paula and faithful dog Marley. Beloved husband of the late Monica (nee Hoganson). Son of the late John Joseph and Charlotte (Griffin) Leydon, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Predeceased by his dear brothers and their wives Chester (Annie), Paul (Shirley), and Jack (Sue). Brother-in-law of Cyril (the late Lois) Hoganson. Fred was so very much loved by his many nieces and nephews and by all who knew him. His kindness, quick wit and passion for helping people will leave a special place in many hearts forever. During his working days Fred was a highly regarded senior executive for The Department of National Defence, and in his retirement he contributed greatly to many charities and causes, especially at the Ottawa Hospital where he worked for 17 years as a pastoral care volunteer. A special thank you to his fantastic neighbours, fellow parishioners and great friends who helped Dad keep his independence and good spirits in spite of a critical car accident last year. We would also like to thank the 5th Floor Palliative Team at Elizabeth Bruyère Hospital for their outstanding care, kindness and support during these past very difficult months. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O’Connor) on Tuesday, November 6 from 1-3 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at Annunciation of The Lord Roman Catholic Church, 2414 Ogilvie Road, on Wednesday, November 7 at 11a.m., with a reception to follow. In Memoriam donations to the Bruyère Foundation would be appreciated.
