Obituary for
Florence Frances « Feance » Castel
Florence was born Saturday, October 24, 1959 in Flin Flon, Manitoba to Victoria and Angus Bear.
Florence Frances Castel was her Christian baptized name but she was FEANCE all of her life. This name carries on with Drelyn Feance Bear, her granddaughter. The source of her name remains a mystery but as she had said “it is my name”.
Feance and Napoleon Castel lived true to their Matrimony Vows and their Renewal of Vows as they stood by each other “through sickness and health” till she reached her day to join all the Angels in Heaven and forever will be in the Glory of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Feance was blessed with raising her grandson, Bryce who kept her very busy and her disability did not hinder her granny duties throughout the day and night. Bryce was her daily companion and surely he will be missing her from this day on but he will always have his grandfather Napoleon.
We joined Feance every Wednesday to carry on the tradition of doing the Legion of Mary. She was given the lead role of saying the intentions of the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary. One of the five is the Virtue of a Happy Death and the intentions would be for the Elderly and the sick knowing that she was dealing with an illness. She would often say “I am ready for the day I will have my last breath” which clearly shows she had faith. Our Lord, Jesus Christ is compassionate and has welcomed Feance into His Kingdom. Her favourite songs were #35 Ospitonik Christ Jesus (Safe in the Arms of Jesus) and #84 Kisikok Iteyimok (Let’s try to reach Heaven).
Feance talked about her children as they were all living away from home with Vincent being married and living in The Pas, Jonathan living in Winnipeg trying to make his own life, Melissa being reunited with her family and living in The Pas, Trevor with his daughter and partner in Ontario, Tatanya with her partner in Saskatoon, Conrad and Treena living in the community. She was thankful that her children were trying their independence and being very hopeful that their future would be bright. She gave special mention of all her grandchildren especially to the ones whom were sick such as Pocket Rose.
We (brothers/sisters) took care of Feance in our special ways and all visits long and brief meant so much to her. Our mother would prepare traditional food and bannock for Feance on a weekly basis and Feance appreciated this so much and without a word would just give her thumbs up! The times we shared have always been with so much laughter that one would think we were having a party but Yes, we had a blast each time we were with her.
Feance was very thoughtful of people in her life and whenever her message of Facebook appeared that read “love you to all my family, relative, friends far and near” she remembered you with love and peace. Each one of you hearing or reading the message would know you were important in her life.
Feance leaves these two messages that she often shared “When I leave this world, be happy for me as I will be whole again and no more sickness. Celebrate my passing by sharing your love with one another, laughter to echo loud and clear while playing cards of Texas Hold ‘Em or Rummy because that was my favorite time spent with you!”
Florence passed away peacefully with family by her side Saturday, November 3, 2018 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas, Manitoba, at the age of 59 years.
“In quieter times to come, please reach out for our Lord Jesus Christ as we all need him in our lives and remember we will be joined again. Do not be sad, I have eternal life “akwa kithawaw peko takaskihoyek eta sasay e-yayan” Alleluia AMEN.
