Fernand Savoie
1944-2018
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Fernand
Savoie, of Bouctouche Sud, on December 10, 2018 at the Dr Georges L
Dumont UHC, Moncton, at the age of 74. Fernand was born in
Saint-Maurice to the late Amanda (Collette) (2002) and the late Albert
Savoie (1987). He attended school in St-Maurice and graduated from
École Centrale de Sainte-Anne-de-Kent.
Fernand was a talented electrician who worked in various provinces at
his trade throughout his life. His passion was to chart and research
the Savoie family history and he inspired many family members in this
area. He travelled far and wide in search of his ancestors’
stories, leaving us a precious legacy of his work.
Fernand is survived by his son Daniel (Trista Black) of Amherst NB;
the mother of his son Antoinette (Bastarache) Savoie of Bouctouche,
NB; his three sisters: Irène (John Schmeisser) of Halifax, NS,
Raymonde of Moncton, NB; and Odette Gaudet (Valmond Gallant) of
Grande-Digue, NB; three brothers: Ulysse (Odette Jackson) of Halifax,
NS; Yvon of St-Maurice, NB; and Raymond (Carmella Melanson) of Baie
Ste-Anne, NB. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and
friends who will miss him dearly, especially Poco and Boubou.
He is predeceased by Joseph, a baby brother in infancy, and two older
sisters, Doris Tibbo of New-Glasgow (March 2012), and Lucina LeBlanc
of Bouctouche (September 2012).
There will be no service or visitation. Donations may be made to the
