Obituary for Eric James Nelson Marr
MARR, Eric James Nelson – It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Eric Marr on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the age of 44, after a courageous battle with cancer, fought every day with dignity, hope, love and courage. Eric spent his final days the way he lived his life, surrounded by the love of his family.
Cherished husband of GeorgeAnn (nee Flintoft) and loving daddy of Myra, Fox and Axe. Beloved son of Jim and Diane Marr and son-in-law of Sam and Denise Flintoft. Dear brother of April Desaulniers (Real) and brother-in-law of Shane Flintoft (Karen), Robert Flintoft (Amanda), Tyson Flintoft, Danielle Bertoni (Jeffry) and Cory Flintoft (Chelsea Soon). Sadly missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by his dear sister Natalie.
Eric was born and raised in Welland. He worked at John Deere for nine years before returning to school to become an Arborist, graduating from Humber College with Honours. He went on to start his own successful business, Marr’s Tree Service. Eric enjoyed the outdoors and driving his jeep. He was a loving husband and provider, a father his children adored, a devoted son and brother, and a genuine friend. He will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Friday, January 12th from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, January 13th beginning at 10 a.m. followed by a service to celebrate Eric’s life in the Cudney Chapel at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Eric’s medical team; Dr. Yelamanchili, Dr. Blewit, Dr. Hallock and the Oncology nurses and staff at the Walker Family Cancer Centre. Also to CCAC for the excellent home care, especially Colleen who went over and above providing care, compassion and friendship.
