Emma Theresa Boudreau
1932-2018
Emma Theresa Boudreau
passed away peacefully with family at bedside in St.
Vincent’s Nursing Home, Halifax, Nova Scotia on Friday
November 23,2018.
Emma was born
November 7,1932, in East Tracadie, Nova Scotia. She was the
youngest of seven children born to Thomas and Elizabeth Boudreau and
was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Her
siblings were Clarence Boudreau, Mary (Percy Doucette), Catherine (Layton Fillmore),
Sarah (Sadie) (Joseph Gorman), Eileen
(James Vacheresse) and Genevieve
Boudreau.
Emma leaves behind
her beloved niece Geraldine (Gerry) Hartlen who she considered her sister
and many
special nieces and nephews, especially Tommy and Donald and the late
Buddy (J.R.) Fillmore who she helped raise after they lost their
mother at a young age.
Emma left home at age fifteen to work
for one summer with the Stanfield family in Truro, but ended up
staying for fifteen years working as a very skilled housekeeper and
cook. She moved to Boston, Massachusetts at age thirty and
continued in her
domestic work, first, for the Dean of Education at
Harvard University and later for many private
clients.
Emma had an impeccable work ethic and
loved the work she did. She loved her life in Boston.
She met her special love
Frank ( Sebastiano) Fazio while ballroom dancing
and they spent many years together until his death in 2005.
Emma loved to cook,
bake, write letters chat on the phone and travel. She loved
to shop regularly and sent hundreds of parcels home to Canada filled
with gifts and love.
Emma took a yearly vacation home to
Canada dividing her time between Halifax and the homestead in
East Tracadie. She
cherished her time with family and
friends.
Emma retired at
age seventy five and returned to Canada in
2008. She enjoyed her own apartment,
then, in
2016, due to health reasons moved into
St. Vincent’s Nursing Home. Here she made many friends
including the « Crafty Cronies » and received
excellent care from the many special staff
members there. Thank you so much for your love and kindness toward
Emma. You were her family too and
made St.Vincent’s her
home.
Emma will rest in C.

from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral Mass at St Peter’s
