Eleanore Brown
Eleanore Brown RN (Ret.d) Age 80, Halifax, passed away February 9, 2018 in Saint Vincent’s Nursing Home surrounded by family. Born in Moncton, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Kathleen (Thacker) Buck.
Eleanore met the love of her life Dr. Donald C. Brown while they were both working at Moncton Hospital in 1958 and married in 1959 later moving several times until they put down roots in Halifax in 1968. Eleanore always enjoyed gardening and painting while watching the boats pass by on the North West Arm and was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends at home or at the Cottage. She was also a long time member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Saint Andrews United Church.
Eleanore is survived by her loving husband Dr. Donald C. Brown; sons Scott (Susan) Halifax; Michael (Mary Ann) Riverview, NB; Mark (Jo) Tasmania; David (Karen) Halifax; daughter Joanne London, ON; and special daughter in law Janet of Halifax; grandchildren, Cory, Brandon, Matthew, Marc, Amanda, Jack, Will, Fergus, Will, David, Jenna, Josh; brothers, Art (Sonja) Buck Moncton, NB; Doug (Gloria) Buck Kemptville, ON as well as many nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 14 from 2-4 & 7-9pm, in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, Halifax.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, Feb 15 at 1:00 pm, in St. Andrews United Church 6036 Coburg Rd. Halifax, Rev. Russell Daye officiating
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Society and or Saint Andrews United Church.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Saint Vincent’s Nursing Home, Dykeland Lodge and Colchester East Hants Health Centre.
