Leonard, Marion Elaine (Rankine)
Elaine Leonard passed away at Shannex Nursing Home in
Fredericton, NB on April 21, 2018. After years deteriorating with
Alzheimer’s, she could not overcome the flu. Elaine is
survived by her husband of 68 years, Donald D. Leonard, son Jim and
his wife Jill of Fredericton, daughter Jane of Newton, Massachusetts,
USA, and one brother Charles Rankine of Fredericton. Elaine
will also be missed by an extended family member, Colleen Laagland,
who provided companionship, encouragement, laughs and wonderful care
to Elaine in her last years.
Elaine was predeceased by her
parents, Darleyne and Arthur Rankine of Fredericton, sisters Dorothy
(Don) Baxter of Maryland, USA, Maxene Rankine of Brakel, Germany, and
brother Vernon (Emma) Rankine of Fredericton.
Born in
Fredericton on April 6, 1929, Elaine was a devoted and loving wife and
homemaker, who enjoyed baking, smocking and needlework, and summer
days at Lake George. Whether cruising the country roads on
the back of the Harley with Don or just running errands, this former
Miss Fredericton, was always elegant and stylish.
A special
thank you to the kind staff at Thomas Hall, Shannex, for their
wonderful care.
No flowers or visitation at
Elaine’s request. Donations in memory of Elaine may be made
to the Alzheimer’s Society of New Brunswick
(www.alzheimernb.ca ) or to the charity of the donor’s
choice. A private family interment will take place at a later date at
the Forest Hill Cemetery.
