OBITUARY
Eileen G. MacIntyre
4 May , 1930 – 6 May , 2018
MACINTYRE, Eileen – She’s flying with the angels, and heaven is now her home! With broken hearts, we said goodbye to our Mom, Eileen MacIntyre (Hill) in her 88th year on Sunday, May 6, 2018. Mom was the kindest and most loving lady we knew. Her unconditional love and support was always something we could depend on. Mom grew up on a farm in Prince Township with her parents, Clarence & Ellen Hill, along with her brothers Wesley, Wilbert, Gordy & Garry and three sisters, late Eunice, Phylis and Marg. Growing up on the farm she learned many skills and the ethic of hard work. She met our Dad, Cecil MacIntyre who also grew up in Prince Township, with his parents Stanley & Hannah MacIntyre, brothers Stanley, Norman, Jack, Gerald, Chester, Gordie and sisters Sandra & Lou-Cinda. Mom and dad were married on August 4, 1954 and started their life together in Prince Township. While living in the Sault, Mom worked at the Court House. They became the proud parents of five children: Rodney (Diane), Edward (Carla), Jack, Darlene and Russell (Barb). After the children were all born, they purchased a farm at the top of Maple Leaf Hill in Echo Bay. A few years later they moved to Bruce Mines, Plummer Township in the Gordon Lake area to fulfill their dream of owning a beef farm. Along with being a full time Mom, she worked hard alongside our Dad, doing barn chores, hauling gravel, cutting trees for firewood and logs to sell. They also owned and maintained rental cabins on Gordon Lake. Mom loved to be outside working with Dad rather than being in the house, but she was always sure to make us the best suppers ever! Mom never had the best of much, but she made the best with what she did have. She showed us how to appreciate things and showed us what love really was. Mom’s pride and joy was her grandchildren Adam (Tanya), Samantha (Cole), Caitlin, Ashley, Cassidy, Cecil, Stefanie (Donnie), Kyle, Dylan (Jayden) and Ryan, as well as being a Great Grandma to Gray, Reese, Bryson & Brennen. She bragged about her grandchildren’s accomplishments, only wishing for them to be happy. She always made sure there was a delicious dessert and treat in the drawer for them. Our Mom loved people and had many special friends. She was warm and friendly and enjoyed meeting new people. Some of Mom’s favorite hobbies were gardening, knitting, baking, watching sports on TV and playing cards. When she baked her famous date cookies, the boys fought over getting their share sent out to Alberta. After her children became young adults, Mom worked at Light Haven Home, where she was a kind and compassionate caregiver to many residents. We her children & grandchildren will miss her very much, but knowing she is with her loving husband, our dad, and our late brother Jack is a big comfort to us. Mom, In the arms of the angels, you will be comforted. We are thankful to Aunt Marie for her daily calls to mom while she was living alone. Thank you to all the Staff at the Finish Rest Home for all their love and care given to Mom. Every kind word and care you gave her was appreciated. It takes a very special person for this job, Patience, Love & kindness! The tribute you gave to Mom as she left will forever be in our hearts and we’re sure she is winking to you from above now. Thank you. As per Mom’s wishes, we invite you to a Graveside Ceremony on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11 am at Prince Township Cemetery with a Celebration to follow at the Elks Hall in Echo Bay from 2 to 7 pm. Memorial donations to Uusi Koti would be appreciated by the family. (Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel – 492 Wellington St. E. – 705-759-2522).
