Lovingly Remembered
Edward Frank Meier, beloved husband of Mary Meier of Calgary, passed away at St. Theresa Covenant Care on Monday, November 19, 2018 at the age of 90 years.
Besides his beloved wife Mary, Edward will be remembered by his children Carol (Mark) Gray of Calgary, Gerald (Kathy) of Moyie Lake, BC, Dorothy (Willem) of Victoria, BC, Robert (Theresa) of Coleman, AB and Pamela (Ron) of Victoria, BC; he will also be remembered by his grandchildren David, Steven, Aaron, Mark, Samuel, Molly and Rachel and great-grandchildren Matthew, Zoe and Victoria; brother Joe Meier and sisters Johanna Kilistoff and Anne Scheffer. Edward was predeceased by his parents Dorothy and Joseph Meier, brothers Phillip, John, Jack, Peter and George; sisters Lena, Margaret, Helen, Mary, Dorothy and Martin. Born the 7th child in a family of 16 children in Tramping Lake, SK by home birth. Edward excelled in school as was the only one to finish high school. He was very close to his maternal grandparents and spent considerable time with them. As a young man, he set out for Edmonton and became a welder and together with his three brothers formed a business “Meier’s Welding”. He loved to play accordion, could fix anything and was a devoted family man, a dedicated Catholic and enjoyed picnics, winter fun, skidoos, and going to the lake.
A Funeral Service will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home, (Prairie View Chapel, 1605 – 100 Street SE, Calgary) on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
