In Loving Memory
Earl has been lovingly called home by his Lord, passing away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital with his loving wife by his side on April 2, 2018, from complications arising from a fall.
He is survived by his wife Martha (Marti). His 7 children: Allen (Cheri) Hehr of Cochrane AB, Teresa Elkins of Red Deer AB, Sherry (Ed Pavao) Hehr of Calgary AB, Shelly (Blair) Burrows of Brandon MB, Sheldon (Linda) Allen of Calgary AB, Sharlene Mantei of Calgary AB and Shawn Allen of Calgary AB. His 12 grandchildren: Christina (Cedric) Brousseau, Amanda (Richard) Holdenried, Ryan Hehr, Sarah Burrows, Ruth (Aaron) Myradon, Brian (Stacey) Burrows, Racheal-Anne Burrows, Robert Burrows, Christian (Staci) Allen, Jessica (Tom Ouellette) Allen, Melinda Allen and Melissa (Chad) Desabrais. 16 great grandchildren: Simon, Emma, Kaitlyn, Hayley, William, Ariana, Charissa, Meadow, Silver, Magnus, Parker, Lucas, Benjamin, Jade, Qylen, and Edwyn. And one brother Dale (Debbie) Hehr of Markerville AB. He was preceded by his parents Emil and Lily Hehr.
Earl was born November 5, 1936 in Didsbury AB then moving to Markerville AB taking his schooling there and in Red Deer. He was very active in the #7 Squadron, Markerville Air Cadets winning 3 major awards. He joined the S. S. Kresge Co. now known as K Mart and spent over 25 years with them living in the cities of Red Deer, Calgary (3 times), Saskatoon, New Westminster, North Battleford and Winnipeg mostly as a manager. He married Marti Allen on April 23rd 1977. Bought Bud’s Office Furniture in 1982 and owned and operated it until 2010.
His love of sports was evident as he had season tickets for 42 years for the Calgary Stampeders, 26 years for the Calgary Flames and 8 years for the Calgary Cannons. He coached a Ladies Fast Ball Club, was the president of the Calgary Ladies Fast Ball League, played golf, hunted, fished and could often be found watching sports on t.v.
He belonged to the North Battleford Kinsman Club, Toastmasters North Battleford and the Quality Breakfast Club in Calgary. He was active in the Rockyview Alliance Church, loved his Lord and enjoyed traveling, dining out, spending time with his family and coffee with his « buddies » at Tim Hortons.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Foothills Hospital, both in F7 and Unit 112, for their most outstanding care of Earl and their support given to the family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Cochrane Alliance Church, 902 Glenbow Drive, Cochrane AB Wednesday April 11th at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to a charity of your choice or to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
