Dr Robert John George October 22nd 2018 avis de deces

Dr. Robert John George
M.B.B.S., F.R.C.S (E), F.R.C.S (C)
Passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 22/18, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Left to mourn and cherish his memory, are his wife of 50 years Liz, his daughters Adrienne (Geordie) and Pippa (Gerry) and his beloved grandchildren Sean, Ewan, Mia and Adam as well as sister Susan and extended family in England.
Born in Hemel Hempstead, England and educated at St. Dunston’s College, London. He completed his medical training at King’s College London and St. George’s Hospital, graduating in 1967. His first years of surgical practice were at St. Georges, The Hammersmith and The Royal Marsden in England.
In 1968, he married Liz, the love of his life, and together they embarked upon a life of joy and adventure.
In 1969, he and Liz left England for Jamaica to practice general surgery and neurosurgery at The University of the West Indies. After 18 months, they returned to England where they started their family.
In 1977, Bob’s great friend Dr. Roger Crisfield, enticed him to leave the busy city life and move to the Kootenay’s, where he fell in love with the Rossland lifestyle. He initially joined the C.S Williams Clinic as a general surgeon, and later transitioned to his own private Practice. He was a member of staff at the Trail Hospital for over 20 years.
In 1997, after his daughters had left for University, he and Liz decided it was time for a new adventure. After answering an advertisement in a medical journal, they soon found themselves on the other side of the world, in their new home, Saipan (Micronesia). Here, the alluring island life and unique professional challenges led them to stay for 10 years travelling extensively through south East Asia, and Australasia. In 2007, he retired and returned to his favourite place, the Kootenays.
Bob will always be remembered for his love of life, big heart, boundless energy, entertaining sense of humour, sharp and inquisitive mind, and most of all, his limitless love for his family. He could often be found at the golf course, ski hill, cross-country tracks and enjoying life at Kootenay Lake. His passions included his friends, good food and wine, travel, all things-sports, and his never-ending collection of DYI projects.
Special thanks to Dr. Kynan Bazley for his kind and compassionate care.
As an expression on sympathy, donations can be made to KBRH Surgical Department in his name at www.kbrhhealthfoundation.ca
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Warfield Community Hall on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 1:00pm with Gwen Ziprick as celebrant. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.
