Obituary of Dr. Jack May
MAY- Dr. Jack Raymond May: August 11, 1930 – June 16th, 2018
The May family regrets to announce the passing of Dr. Jack Raymond May. Whether you called him Husband, Dad, Papa, Jack or Dr. May, he always had time to spend with you. He was a kind and compassionate man. The only time he raised his voice was to argue his point on political affairs. He cherished his wife, Donna, the love of his life for 60 years and his last thoughts were to ensure she would be well taken care of. Theirs was a real love story. It started with a wink across the counter of the local bakery shop in McAdam NB, and continued as they raised their children and had many adventures at home and abroad. He was a fierce champion of his three children; Kathy (Kendall), Susan (Joe) and John (Sylvia) and encouraged them to follow their North Star and challenged them to pursue excellence in whatever they chose. The birth of his two grandchildren provided him the opportunity to pass on his legacy and love of life. Dad was a voracious reader which influenced Victoria to study English. He was an amateur military historian who influenced his namesake Jack to pursue his studies at Royal Military College. Beyond his family, he was a caring and compassionate physician in Port Colborne and served his community well. Following his retirement, he continued to practice medicine as a “flying doctor”. His passion for serving others led him and Mom to Northwest BC, where he extended his gift of care to local communities. We are saddened we won’t be able to see his smile, but in his almost 88 years he lived a wonderful life surrounded by love and happiness. He will be missed but never forgotten by all of us including his extended family and close friends. Cremation has taken place. The May family will receive visitors at the DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME, 135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and at the Central United Church on Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Elliston Bridger officiating. The Port Colborne Lions Club will conduct a service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. Dad was the longest serving member of the Lion’s Club in Port Colborne and has asked that instead of flowers, donations could be made to his favourite Organization www.dogguides.com/donate.html and select Canine Vision.
