Dorothy Jean Matthews (nee Spence)
Passed away peacefully at Woodlands of Sunset on Sunday July 22, 2018, in her 97th year. Survived by her children Lynda (Ross) Chester, Raymond Matthews and daughter in law Sandee. Loving grandmother to Leslie Bellingham (John), Dale Matthews (Lauren), Sherry Perri (Mike), Corey Matthews (Brandy) and great grandmother to 7 great grand kids. Reunited with her husband Ross Matthews (1988) son Alan Matthews (2012) and daughter in law Marilyn (2016). Dorothy kept herself young and vibrant by being involved with many family and friends over her lifetime and is remembered for her Sunday dinners and elderberry pies. The family would like to extend a heart felt thanks to the Cedars staff of Woodlands of Sunset for providing a safe, uplifting environment full of friendship and recreation. Your love and care for Dorothy will always be remembered and appreciated.
Friends and family will be welcomed at the JAMES L. PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill on Wednesday July 25th, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service to honour Dorothy’s life will take place on Thursday July 26th at 11:00 am at the Pelham Friends Community Church, 940 Haist Street, Fonthill. Interment will take place following the service. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Pelham Friends Community Church or Woodlands of Sunset.
