Obituary of Doris Mackay
MACKAY-Doris Irene of Port Colborne was called home October 4, 2018. She peacefully passed away at Portal Village with her loving family surrounding her. She was the younger of two daughters to Gustav and Lydia (Wolfe) Fiedler, born May 29, 1926, and grew up on the family farm in Dain City. She married Winton Allan MacKay (March 2018) on August 8th, 1959 and they settled in Port Colborne, building their dream home. There they raised their 3 children; Winton Jr. of Saskatchewan, Colleen (Ron) Parton of Port Colborne and Dave (Andrea) of Wainfleet. She is the dear Nana of Chris (Annita) MacKay, Joshua (Jessica) Parton, Lydia (Gary) Parton, Lauren MacKay and Megan MacKay, great Nana of Cameron, Caleb, Brooklyn, and Gavin. She is the sister to Jean Roesler of Lincoln, Nebraska, and sister in law to Owen (Kay) MacKay of Elliott Lake. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband she was predeceased by an infant son Peter, brother in law Arnold Roesler, and sister in law Joyce Grady. Her family and church family were a big part of her life. She thoroughly enjoyed having people over to the house, cooking them a meal and visiting. She was happiest when family were all together for a meal, whether it was for a special occasion or just a day we could all get together. She loved flowers and her home was always adorned with fresh cut or potted plants. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Portal Village, Care Partners, Dr. St Hilaire, nurse Kim and Mark NP, Dr. Scher and Pastor Brian. The MacKay family will receive visitors at the DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME, 135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne, on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 in the Davidson Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Brian Lofthouse officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Parkwood Institute, London, Ontario or the Port Colborne BIC Church.
