1937 – 2018
Donna Maria Boggs, age 80, of Cranbrook, BC passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, March 27, 2018.
Donna was born in Nelson, BC on October 11, 1937 and spent her childhood in Nelson, Kimberley and Cranbrook, BC. She married Walter “Peter” Boggs in 1957 and together they raised their three daughters, Leann, Laura and Cara. They made their home in Cranbrook, BC.
Donna had a big heart and a great spirit for volunteering and giving to her community. She was an active member of the Cranbrook Healthcare Auxiliary for 48 years, making her the second longest active member for this organization. Donna was acting president for the Cranbrook Healthcare Auxiliary in 1983/1984. She was a good and dependable volunteer who truly believed in the Auxiliaries’ mandate of purchasing equipment for the East Kootenay Regional Hospital. Donna was also a long term active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3032. She held many offices throughout her 42 year membership with this Eagles and she was proud of the accomplishments and community involvement of this group.
Donna loved her time spent volunteering at the Cranbrook Healthcare Auxiliary Thrift Shop and the Eagles Hall as well as spending time with her family. She was known as “Granny” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she loved so much. She was a fabulous cook and baker and provided many good meals for family and friends. Her dill pickles and homemade bread were famous with all of us.
Donna was predeceased by her parents, Augustine and Nicholas Milkovich. Donna is survived by her daughters, Leann (Gary), Laura (Darryl), Cara (Rob); grandchildren Ashley (Bud), Chelsea (Matthew), Dalton (Amanda) and Austin; great grandchildren, Ryker and Codi; brother Nicholas (Kathy) and their family.
A memorial service for Donna will be held at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 11:00 am with Reverend Jack Lindquist officiating.
