OBITUARY
Donald Frederick Silmser
September 11, 1929 – December 29, 2018
SILMSER, Donald Frederick of Cornwall – Passed away peacefully at age 89, surrounded by his family at the Cornwall Community Hospital on December 29, 2018. Don was the beloved husband of Catherine (MacLeod) Silmser having recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. Loving father of Carolyn Homer (Gordon) of Toronto, Alan Silmser (Anita) of Scottsdale, Arizona and David Silmser of Ottawa. Proud grandfather of Christopher Homer (Heidi), Michael Homer (Veronika), Ryan Homer and Khyanna and Shane Lamarche-Silmser. Great-grandfather of Isaac Homer and Clara Homer. Dear brother of Dorothy Parker (Henry) of Niagara Falls and Marion Stephenson (Robert) of Ingleside. Dear son of the late Frederick Silmser and the late Olive (Antoine) Silmser. Predeceased by two sisters Jean Coleman (late Robert) and Betty Vineyard (late George). Don spent 40 years with Cornwall Electric, retiring as Sales and Service Superintendent. He loved boating and fishing during his summers at the cottage, hosting many department fishing derbies, and bowling during the winter. He and Catherine also enjoyed trips to Muskoka and Arizona to spend time with family. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 4, 2019 at Trinity Anglican Church at 2 p.m. followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation Cornwall Chapter or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
