Derek Ian Baker, age 77, of Stratford, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at VON Sakura House (Woodstock). Born in Darley Dale, Derbyshire, England, son of the late Ernest and Catherine (Bowler) Baker. Survived by his true love and best friend Marlene (Waller) Baker of 52 years. Proud father of Ian (Jane) Baker and Louise (Darryl) Lepp. Loving grandfather of Eve and Ben Lepp. Derek will be remembered by his siblings Roy (Heather) Baker and Maureen Grimshaw, by his sister-in-law Joyce Baker and also by his nieces and nephews. After 36 years with British Railways, Derek retired and 3 years ago he and Marlene moved to Stratford, Ontario, Canada. Derek’s biggest passion in life was his family. He also enjoyed many hours planning, landscaping and tending his gardens. In addition to his parents, Derek was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, Ethel and George Waller, his brother Malcolm Baker, his brother-in-law Harold Grimshaw and sister-in-law Elaine Baker. Family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation on Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford.
