David S. Adams
November 20, 1934 – November 26, 2018
It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of David Samuels Adams, on November 26 2018, age 84.
David was born in London to his parents Karl and Betty Lall on November 20, 1934.
At the age of 3 months, he moved with his parents to India, his father’s home land. After graduation from Bishop Cotton school in Shimla, he travelled to Calcutta where he trained as a tea broker, for Carritt Moran for about 7 years. Leaving India, he travelled Europe, worked in London, finally settling in Toronto.
His marriage in 1961, was soon followed by four children, Samantha, Peter, Nicholas and Melissa, all while working toward his CGA designation and teaching at Humber College. In 1975, he accepted a contract with CIDA that took his family to Maseru, Lesotho, Southern Africa, with the National Development Corporation. After two years, he returned to Canada, left his position at Humber College and moved his family to Victoria, to work for the Provincial Government in Finance, then Advanced Education.
In 1992, David moved to the Cowichan Valley after meeting his companion and best friend of 26 years, Jerry Tothill They shared travels to Europe and India, as well as with family and friends. David was always involved in his community, in Victoria with his Church and the Cridge Centre for the Family. More recently as Treasurer of the BC Gov’t Retired Employees Assoc. He was the only male Welcome Wagon representative on Vancouver Island, past president of the Cowichan Valley Probus Club and an active member of the AOTS at Duncan United Church.
He leaves behind, Jerry, his children, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Special thanks to the nursing staff on 3N of CDH and to Dr. Terlien for his gentle care.
