Obituary Overview
Forever In Our Hearts
HODGSON, Darren Crosley
October 6, 1972 – April 27, 2018
It is with heavy sad hearts that we announce the passing of Darren, our beloved husband and father on Friday, April 27, 2018 at the age of 45 years.
Darren will be forever remembered by his spouse Tracy, children Hayden, Tyson and Kane; his mother Rosemary; brother Trevor (Taehee); his wingman Nigel (Michelle) and his large extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his father Donald and grandparents.
Darren was born in Toronto (but was never a Leaf’s fan), and spent a few years there until his parents moved to Burlington. Darren grew up there, making some of the most amazing lifelong friends. After high school, Darren went to Western University and graduated with a degree in Kinesiology. After graduating he moved on to study Echocardiography.
Darren and Tracy met while they were both working at Millcroft golf course – and although there were several years of friendship first – they eventually stopped fighting the universe and began dating in 1999. Upon finishing his studies of Echocardiography – Darren was given an opportunity to complete the practicum portion of his degree in Calgary AB, at Foothills Medical Centre. Although it was a big move and would have to leave his family and friends, he moved out to Calgary to complete his degree. Once he spent some time here – he never moved back. Tracy followed him just over a year later. In June 2005 they finally made it official and were married. They were blessed with their three boys in 2007, 2009 and 2010.
Darren loved being active, working out, playing sports and just running around chasing his boys. He loved the outdoors and loved camping with his family. His boys were everything to him. He wanted the very best for them and did everything possible to make sure that was their reality. He loved hockey among other sports and has passed on those passions to his boys. He spent hours building, flooding and shoveling the backyard rink where he taught all three of his boys to skate. Winters were spent shuffling the boys around to their practices and games and Darren would not have wanted it any other way. His love of all sports will live on with his children.
From the time his boys could speak Darren taught them the answer to “What is the most important thing in life” – even if you ask his boys today what the answer is they will tell you “Family”. Darren was strong, loving and loyal. He would do anything for anyone, usually without being asked – because he was so good at seeing a person’s need and stepping into help before anyone had to ask. His smile was infectious and will be greatly missed.
Public Visitation will take place on Friday, May 4, 2018 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church (541 Silvergrove Dr, NW) at 7:00pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church at 10:00am. Burial to follow in Holy Family Cemetery at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations in Darren’s memory can be forwarded to Kidsport (www.kidsportcanada.ca/donate/)
