Darcie McKelvey was born in Ponoka, Alberta in 1952 to Kendall and Kathleen McKelvey (Butterfield). She attended the University of Alberta and attained her Bachelor of Commerce degree, and then relocated to Toronto to attend the Osgoode Law School. She was in legal practice in Toronto for many years, before moving to Caledon. Her passion was native plant gardening and her Soka Gakkai International Buddhist practice. She is survived by her son Cameron, and her sisters Diane (Sam) and Cheryl. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 2 at 2:00 pm in the SGI Canada Culture Centre at 2050 Dufferin Street in Toronto. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Darcie’s memory to SGI Canada (www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/soka-gakkai-international-association-of-canadaassociation/).
