Daniel « Frank » « Mick » McTiernan
McTiernan, Daniel Francis “Frank” “Mick” age 82 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our husband, father and grandfather, Daniel “Frank” McTeirnan on November 22, 2018. Born in Halifax, Frank was the youngest son of the late Daniel and Mary (Meagher) McTiernan. He leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Margaret (Hicks); three wonderful sons, Stephen (Gayle), Gregory (Nancy), Alan; four grandchildren, Timothy, Andrew, Katie and Laura; brother, Irvin (Winnie); brother-in-law Roland Hazel as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Muriel Hazel. In his younger years Frank played hockey which continued into his later years playing in the Old Timers League. He also enjoyed bowling, travelling, playing the guitar and was an avid walker. He also loved Friday nights with his buddies and was a fan of Hank Snow. A skilled craftsman he worked at the Dockyard in Halifax for 10 years, lead mechanic in Los Angeles, California at Crown Coach Corp. where he was highly acclaimed and respected by his peers designing and building engines for fire coaches and school busses. He also worked at Lockheed Air. In 1974 Frank was employed with Halterm and Fairview container terminals working on machines and heavy equipment retiring in 1999. Throughout his illness with dementia he had much love and support from his family and friends. A heartfelt thank you to Colchester Community Hospital, Truro, Mira and Magnolia Nursing Homes, VON as well as Nancy McTiernan and Nancy Power. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be 1pm followed by a memorial service at 2pm Saturday, December 1, 2018 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. A reception will follow in the Funeral Home.
