Obituary of Craig Campbell
Campbell, Arthur “Craig”
Craig died peacefully and with dignity on Thursday December 27, 2018 at The Village of Winston Park, Kitchener, in his eightieth year. Dearly loved husband of Jane. He will be missed by Jane’s sister, Lynda Nanders, her son Carl, Carl’s wife Marlene, and many friends. Predeceased by his parents, Dorothy and Ross Campbell.
Craig was a passionate defender of the environment. Following his career as a secondary school teacher of English and History, he worked tirelessly to ensure habitat protection for wildlife in Waterloo Region and throughout Ontario, with a special concern for endangered species.
He was honoured to receive recognition through the Lieutenant Governor’s Ontario Heritage Trust Lifetime Achievement Award, induction into the Waterloo Region Hall of Fame, and the establishment of the Craig Campbell Fern Walk at the rare Charitable Research Reserve, Cambridge.
We are grateful to Craig’s devoted companion Eva, and for the kind professional care he received at Winston Park, Emma’s Neighbourhood. Our thanks also to the friends whose visits brightened his days during his long illness. We are deeply grateful to Dr. Joe Lee, whose care over many years demonstrated exceptional professional knowledge and skill, and unfailing wisdom and compassion.
A celebration of Craig’s life will be held in the New Year.
Condolences for the family and donations to Ontario Nature or the Nature Conservancy of Canada may be made through the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, 519 745-8445.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Craig
