Constance « Connie » Neales
1924-2018
With thanksgiving for a life well lived, the family of
Constance (Connie) Neales of Bloomfield announce her passing at the
Kiwanis Nursing Home in Sus on Monday June
18th 2018. Born in Bloomfield 93 years ago, she
was the daughter of the late James and Nora (Raymond) Neales. Connie
is survived by her sister Julia Hughes of Bloomfield, nieces; Shirley
(Wetmore) Adshade of River Philip NS, Gillian Urquhart (Percy) of
Bloomfield, and Marilyn Johnson-Grealish of Edmonton AB. Nephews;
James Wetmore of Edmonton AB, Peter Wetmore of Galahad AB, David
Hughes (Diedre Connell) of Saint John, NB and Glen Johnson (Virginia)
of Lawrence Station NB along with several great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters; Gertrude Wetmore and Mary Louise
Johnson.
Connie was a beloved teacher having begun her
career at the age of 17 prior to serving in the RCAF as a wireless
operator during WW2. Her teaching career continued with her graduation
from Teacher’s College in 1947 and her degree from UNB at a later
date.
Connie taught at a number of schools in Quebec and
New Brunswick ending her career at Hampton Elementary School for 11
years, retiring in 1983. She is fondly remembered for her love of
teaching children, her compassion and her sense of humour which
impacted many students.
She was a life-long member of Christ Church, Bloomfield and
an active member of Christ Church ACW.
Her community spirit and generosity was exemplified in her
many volunteer activities including Head Start and the Food Basket.
She was always one to be involved in community events such as the
Bloomfield Strawberry Festivals, organizing fundraising concerts, and
any other events that needed a helping hand.
Connie was an avid gardener regularly lending her expertise
in arranging flowers and decorating for any and all events. Her varied
interests also included a love of nature, music, reading, cooking and
quilting, just to name a few.
Connie was a loyal, proud, and loving daughter, sister, aunt
and friend and will be dearly missed.
Arrangements have been entrusted to
Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street,
Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Sunday, June 24th, 2018
from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A Celebration of Connie’s Life
will be held 2:00 pm Monday, June 25th 2018 at Christ Church
Bloomfield.
Donations in memory of Connie may be made to
Christ Church Bloomfield or to a charity of the donor’s
