It is with immeasurable sadness we announce the sudden peaceful passing of our father, husband, brother-in-law, uncle, grand uncle, great grand uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and godfather.
Kwekigiizhego` inini was born in his home community of Wauzhushk Onigum Nation. He was predeceased by his parents Charlie and Charlotte Skead, sisters; Cecilia and May, brothers; Bill, Alex, Nicolas, Arthur, Albert, George.
He was loving husband to wife of 48 years, Netaawaashik Jeanette and father to son; William, daughters; Sally, Kathleen (Ray), Melanie, and Daphne (Peter), brother-in-law to Anita (Terry), sister-in-law Rose, Clara, brother to traditionally adopted Gilbert Smith (Delilah), grandfather and great grandfather to; Theoren, Micaiah, Robbie, Joshua, Matteo, Daniel, Simon, Fabian, Jeric, Nicole, Megan, Alexandria (Paul), Kimberly, Asher, Alina, Tyler, Nicole (John), Louie, Sierra, Atlantis, Sara, Serene, Kenton, Leah, Amy (Blair), Jazzmine (Linden), Mia, Lydia and Cassia, Kiesha, Amber. Uncle to nieces and nephews, Ida, Ruth (Larry), Charlotte (Maynard), Arthur (Doreen), Wanda (Wayne), Patrick, Stanley, Ida, Helen, Marie, Roger, Madeline, Joe. As there is so much family and friends too numerous to mention, we apologize if there are omission of names. Everyone was very important to him.
The family wishes to acknowledge nephews, Vernon (Lillian), Terry (Anita) as his helpers when Dad conducted ceremonies. Also, special mention to friends Manitou Giizhik, Tommy (Isabel), Andy (Caroline), Nora, Dave, Don (Anne), Alfred (Phyllis) and Clarence.
Kwekigiizhego` inini was six times Mide in the Midewewin Lodge. As a Nicanii and teacher in the Lodge, he loved all his Midewewin family and ceremonies.
Kwekigiizhego`inini was one of the original Lake of the Woods Singers and a residential school survivor. He lived his life as a trapper, logger, guide on the Lake of the Woods. He was also one of the first Anishinaabe police officers for over 15 years, played as goalie for the Rat Portage Braves in his younger days and as a self-taught fiddle player, loved playing at many events.
Our Dad loved singing and teaching the Anishinabe traditional songs and drumming, spending time on Lake of the Woods where he was born and raised and where he lived a traditional Anishinaabe way of life in the language and culture. He enjoyed being involved with so many Anishinaabe organizations, Chiefs of Ontario, Grand Council Treaty 3, Anishinaabeg of Kabapikotawangag Resource Council, Kenora Chiefs Advisory, WINHAC, Anishinaabe Abinooji Family Service, Manidoo Baawaatig, Azhe Manitou Gahbewewin, Treaty Three Police Service and was also one of the vision walkers of the Turtle Lodge, Whiteshell Manitoba. He especially loved our home community of Wauzhushk Onigum.
Our Dad enjoyed every moment with everyone that came to see him. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

We wish to thank so much Dr. Bowerman, Dr. Kyle and the nurses on the third floor at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.
Traditional wake and service will be held at the Youth & Elder Building on Wauzhushk Onigum Nation starting Thursday, April 5th at 3:00 pm and service Friday, April 6th at 10:00 a.m., conducting a Traditional Midewin Funeral Ceremony will be Mide Kiwenzie (Elder Peter White).
