CHARLES WILLIAM TAPPENDEN
1924 – 2018
Passed away peacefully, in his 95th year, on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Trillium Mississauga Hospital after suffering a stroke four weeks ago. Chuck was pre-deceased by his wife Helen twelve years ago. Chuck, or Charlie as he was known as a boy, grew up in Englehart, Ontario, lived briefly in Ottawa during World War II, where he met Helen, then lived the rest of his life in Scarborough & Mississauga. Beloved Father of Joy and her husband David Lee, Bruce, and Eric and his wife Susanne. Much loved Grandfather/Pop of Heidi (Dave) Soules, Celia Lee, Alex (Marcy), Lee (Amy), Joseph, Glenn (Cheryl), Larissa (Rob) and Devin. Great-Pop to Ben, Layla, Anthony, Anastasia and Amelia. He was a gentle, loving and kind man – reserved, humble and quiet – but had a strength of character that was an example to his family and all who knew him. He was a faithful Christian and gave of himself willingly to his family, his church and his friends. Resting at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, 8911 Woodbine Avenue (4 lights north of Hwy 7), Markham (905) 305-8508. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, September 12th from 5 – 9 p.m. Funeral Service at Cooksville United Church, 2500 Mimosa Row, Mississauga (south of Dundas, west of Hurontario St.) at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 15th, followed by a luncheon reception in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Chuck’s memory to Cooksville United Church or Trillium Health Partners (Mississauga Hospital) Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
