OBITUARY
Bruce Allison Thom
April 23, 1931 – December 8, 2018
It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Bruce Allison Thom on December 8th at Victoria Hospice.
Loving husband of Doreen, Father to Linda (Richard), Larry and Kathy. Grandfather to Sara, Daniel, Chantel (Kurt) and Quinton. Great grandfather to Selena, predeceased by great grandson Tristan.
Bruce was born in Winnipeg on April 23, 1931 attended Daniel Mac and the University of Manitoba. Started work with CPR, then to Coca Cola and finally to Labatt Brewing for 26 years, retiring as Marketing Manager for Vancouver Island. Following retirement he took on volunteerism, first with The Commonwealth Games as a venue chair for the Aquatic Center – an ironic choice for a man who swam like a rock.
Bruce was a longtime member of the Uplands Golf Club and chaired the Heart Tournament for 15 years. He volunteered with five golden retrievers over 15 years with PATS at Saanich Peninsula Hospital, many times with his grandson Daniel. A member of the Broadmead Men’s Coffee Club where he leaves many friends. Bruce and Doreen loved winters in Puerto Vallarta. Adios mi cara amigos.
