Harriet – Age 85 years of Three Mile Lake, Guysborough Co.
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Dear Mother,
Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister and Aunt, Bridget
« Biddy » on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in Eastern Memorial
Hospital, Canso. She was born on November 15, 1932 in Margaree Valley;
she was a daughter of the late Martin and Alice (Doyle) Murphy.
Bridget taught in Margaree Intervale, Linwood, Riversdale, Hazel Hill,
Canso, Little Dover and Half Island Cove, retiring in 1983. Bridget
was a founding member of the Hazel Hill Community Centre, a member of
the Hazel Hill Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, The
Shamrock Seniors Club, and the Star of the Sea Parish. Many will miss
Biddy and her homemade pies.
Surviving are her daughters, Mary Taylor, Canso; Bernadette
(Nelson) Harnish, Fox Island; Geraldine Bouchie, Windsor;
Lana Gibson, Barrie, Ont.; son, Kevin (Susan), Fox Island; son-in-law,
Terry MacMillan, Pomquet; honorary daughter, Rhonda Bennett, Canso;
siblings, Alice Cormier, Margaree Forks; Lillian Landsburg, Westmount;
Carmel (Dave) Timmons, Margaree Forks; Ursula (Patrick) Butler,
Kingston, Ont.; Grace (Frank) McNab, Ladysmith, B.C.; Dennis
(Mary), Scotsburn; Kevin (Joan), New Glasgow; Hugh (Mary), Margaree
Valley; Ranold, Magaree Forks; Eugene (Julie), Margaree Valley;
sister-in-law, Emily Dort, Canso; 15 grandchildren, 13
great-grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild, 4 step-great-grandchildren.
Bridget was predeceased by her husband, William
« Bill« ; daughter, Valerie MacMillan; siblings,
Catherine, Bernadette, Patrick and Martin; son-in-law, Roger
Bouchie.
Visitation will be held in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home,
Canso, Sunday, May 27, from 2 – 8 p.m. Funeral mass to
celebrate Bridget’s life will be from Star of the Sea Roman Catholic
Church, Canso, Monday, May 28, at 11 a.m. with Father Jonathan
Nnajiofor officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Family flowers
only, please. A reception will follow at the Hazel Hill Community
Centre.
