Obituary for
Boris Sylvester Fyk
It is with great sadness that the family of Boris Sylvester Fyk announces his passing after a long battle with dementia on Friday, October 5, 2018, at the age of 77 years.
Boris will be lovingly remembered by his children, Teresa “Terri” (Terry) Ellis of Kelowna, BC, and Michael (Angela) Fyk of Stony Plain, AB; four grandchildren, Sylvie, Kennedy, Jasper and Landon; and sister, Zenovia (Ernie) Kowalchuk, sisters-in-law, Pat (Eugene) Kolotyluk and Darlene (Dave) Mann. Predeceased by his wife, Diane, parents, Michael and Rose; and sister, Violet Doonanco.
Boris was a graduate of University of Alberta and taught Physical Education in Edmonton, an Honorary member of St. John’s Fraternal and Friends of Bar-V-Nok Society. Boris moved to Kelowna in 2011.
Funeral Rite will be held Saturday, October 20 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 10951 – 107 Street. Very Reverend Cornell Zubritsky officiating with interment in Beechmount Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to Camp Bar-V-Nok care of “CUOCE”, 20303 Meridian Street NE, Edmonton, AB T5Y 6E6 or to Alzheimer Society of Alberta and NWT, 10531 Kingsway Avenue, Edmonton, AB T5H 4K1.
