Bobbie Terry, of Bassano, passed away at the Brooks Health Centre on September 5, 2018, she was 70. She is survived by her beloved husband Melvin Terry of Bassano; her daughter Debbie Buck (Mike Judson) of Calgary; Brenda (Trygve) McKay of Calgary; Terry (Earl) Hale of Okotoks and their children; Rob (Suzanne), Wendy (Alex); grandchildren Evan Gerrard of Calgary; Christian Gerrard of Lethbridge; Janaye Gerrard of Houston; Veronica Buck of Calgary; Issabella McKay of Calgary; and her great granddaughter Ninja Fuchs of Rockyford. She was predeceased by her mother Lois Bunn; her father Robert Jones; and her brother Harold Casey Jones. Bobbie graduated from Western Canada High school in 1966 and worked hard on her small family farm in Worsley, Alberta. She could repair and build almost anything as well as provide medical care for animals – you name it she would do it or at the very least she would try to do it. She had an entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic and was employed with Fairview College in the Registrar’s Office from 1984-90, drove school bus and worked in Worsley Central School Office, she even worked pipeline. Bobbie was a realtor and owned several business throughout her life such as Worsley Highwood Restaurant ’94-95, Sew it Seems Seamstress, Vulcan Window Fashions where she sewed hand-made window dressings as well as installation of prefabricated window dressings, Prairie Chuckwagon Food Truck and was co-owner at MB Terry Enterprises. Bobbie had many talents and hobbies, she was artistic, like her father, and enjoyed working with watercolour, oil, pastel, charcoal, crushed glass mosaic and was mostly all self-taught. She enjoyed cattle drives, crochet, sewing wedding dresses, grad dresses, ski jackets and could professionally refinish, repair and upholster furniture. Bobbie loved her grandchildren very much and would spend time playing hide and seek or playing video games with them. Her favourite video game was Zelda and her grandchildren often called for her advice on how to play and perfect the game. Bobbie was a wonderful self-taught guitar player but without a doubt her greatest passion throughout her life was horses. She had a natural skill with animals. She helped doctor her animals as well as other people’s. She was intuitive with horses and animals in general and sought out training for riding, books for medical knowledge, and in general she strived to learn. Bobbie felt at home on a horse and as a young woman, even though circumstances growing up were very challenging, riding just put the world right and it always remained that way for her. It brought a peace and purpose to her that struck such a deep chord. It’s hard to put to words what it meant to her and there was just a piece missing when she couldn’t ride. Bobbie was a wonderful person and we are left awed by her spirit, talents and tenacity. In memory of Bobbie, if family or friend’s desire, memorial tributes may be made to Brooks and District Health Foundation for Palliative Care. Memorial Services will be held at Bassano Community Hall on Saturday, September 22 at 2:00 pm. Pastor Fred Friesen of Bassano Officiating.
