It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Blanche. She was predeceased by her husband Ernest, son Robert, brothers Glenn and Max. She will be missed by her son Allan (Marian), granddaughter Claire, Maureen (Rob), grandchildren Robyn, Craig, her brother Wayne and sister Elinor, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Blanche will be remembered for her love of gardening, bowling, square dancing, camping, and work she did for charities, such as growing thousands of African Violets for sale, Good Companions, Meals on Wheels, and working at the South Burnaby United Church Thrift Shop.
Blanche was born in Robsart Saskatchewan and grew up during the depression. To complete high school she had to leave home at 16 and board in a nearby town that had a school that went to grade 12. After high school she trained as a nurses aid, contracted TB, and spent 3 years in the Sanatorium.
Blanche moved to BC in 1948 , where she worked as a lab technician and met Ernest. They married in 1951, raised 2 sons and lived in their home on McKee St. for 59 years.
Thank-you to the staff at the Madison Care Home and Eagle Ridge Hospital. There will not be a service at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
