Betty Prickett
The death of Bertha Elizabeth “Betty” Prickett occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on Friday, January 19th, at the age of 86. Born in Benjamin, she was the daughter of the late John Robert and Eleanor Dickie.
A beloved math teacher for years in Dalhousie, Charlo, and Blacklands, Betty also ran a successful fabric shop which supplied textiles to countless people in the area. She was a fabulous knitter, and many pairs of socks she handcrafted for friends and family are still in existence today, some after 30 years. She was also an active member of The Red Hat Society.
Betty lived her life. She would garden flowers in the Spring and Summer, travel to Saint John to pick apples in the Fall and snowmobile in the Winter. She loved having family over to cook for them, whether at home, or at the camp on her property where family members would gather to cook-up delicious meals.
Betty is survived by her son Eric (Paula) of Archibald, her grandchildren Laura (Jason) and Cathy (Ryan), her three great-granddaughters Marissa, Mackenzie and Morgan, as well as her sister Lou Moores of Saint John. She was predeceased by her husband Charles Lindberg “Lindy” Prickett, as well as her brothers Rankin, Edward and Lloyd.
A graveside funeral will be held for Betty in the summer, followed by a reception afterwards at the family’s cottage in Hamilton Beach. Funeral arrangements are in the care of MacMillan’s Funeral Home, Black Point.
