Richards, Bentie Bernice – Age 96 of Canso,
Guysborough Co. Passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 in Milford Haven
Home for Special Care Guysborough. Born in Tancook Island, Lunenburg
Co., on September 21, 1921 she was a daughter of the late Frank and
Laura (Heislee) Baker. Bentie was a former fish plant worker at BC
Packers and Acadia Fisheries, Canso.
She is survived by daughter, Darlene (Melvin) Myatt, Canso;
son, Barry (Mary) Richards, Canso; sisters-in-law, Donna Horne and
Gerry Carrigan; 6 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 4
great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was
predeceased by her husband, Wilfred Richards Jr.; daughter, Rosaleigh
Wood.
Visitation will be held in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home,
Canso, Friday, May 11, from 2 – 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be
from Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Canso, Saturday, May 12,
at 11 a.m. with Father Jonathan Nnajiofor officiating. Burial in the
parish cemetery. Family flowers only, please. A reception will follow
at the Canso Lions Club. Memorial donations may be made to
Star of the Sea Parish Interior Painting Fund. Words of comfort may be
