Obituary of Basil McDow
Basil Elwood McDow, 89 of New Ross, passed away December 18, 2018 in the Valley Regional Hospital. He was the son of the late Harry and Clara (Keddy) McDow.
Basil loved the outdoors, especially fishing and watching the ox pulls. He was a part of the forestry industry (tree yards) and cut close to a million board feet of lumber… so he said. However, for 30 years, he dedicated his time to being a construction supervisor, building bridges throughout Nova Scotia.
He is survived by sons Bruce, Windsor; Garth (Debbie), New Ross; Neil (Kathleen), New Ross; daughter Gina (Ron) Langevin, New Ross; brother Waldo (Marilyn), New Ross; sister Emma McNally, Berwick; several grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Basil was predeceased by his loving wife Ruth (Herget) McDow; brothers Carl, Alton, Harold, Ray and Delbert; sisters Marguerite, Thora and Vivian; and grandson Kevin.
A Celebration of Basil’s Life will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm in the New Ross Legion, Branch #79, 64 Forties Road, New Ross. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the New Ross Fire Dept. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home New Ross Funeral Chapel, 4935 Hwy #12, New Ross, B0J 2M0 (902-689-2961).
