Barbara passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on May 30, 2018 at the Capital Care Lynwood Centre in Edmonton. She is survived and will be remembered lovingly by her four sons (Christopher, Adrian, Ian and David), nine grandchildren (Timothy, Robert, Kelly, Emily, Terri, Sarah, Stephen, Bronwyn and Simon), two great-grandchildren (Theodore and Abigail) and by her brother Cliff and sister Patricia (both living in the United Kingdom). She was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1990.
Barbara was born in Kearsley (near Bolton), Lancashire, England to parents Herbert Pooley and Mary (née Walch), and emigrated to Calgary, Alberta with her husband in 1953. The family moved to Edmonton in 1965.
A memorial service for Barbara Wright will be held at St. Timothy’s Anglican Church (8420 145 St. NW, Edmonton) on June 16, 2018 at 3:00 PM, the presider will be the Rev. Anthony Kwaw. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Westend Seniors Activity Centre (9629-176 St., Edmonton), of which Barbara was an active member for many years.
