Arthur Bobay
January 17, 1933 – July 20, 2018
In loving memory of Arthur Bobay, age 85, who passed away peacefully on July 20, 2018.
Art is survived by his loving wife Joyce, his children: Mark (Lucie), Gina, Mike (Rita), Matthew, Jerome (Lynn), Ken (Liz), Steve (Christine), Dan, Andy (Michelle), Maria, and by his step-children Eric (Donna), Chris (Michelle), Miles (Stephanie), Sebrina (Harry). He is also survived by 29 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, his sisters Luella and Vianne as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother and father, his wife Sue, his wife Ivy, his son Nicholas and his sister Theresa.
Art was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana and developed an interest in carpentry at an early age. He began his own custom cabinet business, married Sue in 1955 and started what was to be a large family. By 1973 they had ten children and made the decision to move from Indiana to a farm in Dryden. A hard working man, Art and his family owned and operated Bobay Home Builders’ Supplies for many years. He made friends easily and many do-it-yourselves benefited from his extensive knowledge. Art was a religious man and his faith guided his life. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved canoeing and spending time with his family. After Sue passed away in 1986 he met and married Ivy in 1989 and they enjoyed 20 years of marriage until her passing. By this time Art had semi-retired and had begun wintering in Texas and developed a love for painting. Art met and married Joyce in 2010 and was delighted that she shared the same interest. The happy years he shared with Joyce were spent in Ladysmith BC, Weslaco TX and Dryden. Art and Joyce loved spending time with family and friends, traveling and painting. Art will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
