Obituary Overview
Anne Triethart
After a lengthy illness, Anne Triethart (nee Zimmer) devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 8th, 2018 at the age of 91.
Left to mourn her loss are her daughters, Nancy Dykstra and Betty-Jean Moyer (Michael); her three grandchildren, Kristin Sarlas (Angelo), Kevin Klyne, and Jacqueline Dykstra; and her two great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Violet Sarlas. Also remaining to cherish her memory are her siblings Alma Zamzow and Alfred Zimmer, as well as, many nieces, nephews, and close friends. She was predeceased by her husband Jack in 1985; her brothers Emil and Joe; and sisters Elizabeth, Martha, Margaret, and Bertha.
Anne was born on November 12, 1926, in the Rural Municipality of Bolton, Manitoba, to Albert and Maria Zimmer. Anne was the 7th of nine children. In 1946, Anne moved from her parent’s farm to Winnipeg, where she worked as a nanny and later as a prep cook in the kitchen of a downtown businessmen’s club.
In January of 1952, she met her husband Jack Triethart and they were married on December 6th of that year at City Hall. The newly married couple settled in the St. James neighbourhood of Winnipeg, where they raised their two daughters.
Anne found pleasure in spending time in her yard tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, visiting with friends, reading books and doing “brain games”, babysitting her grandchildren, and attending regular faith-based meetings and conventions. Anne had a gift with children, which she likened to the fact that she was really a “child at heart”.
Most important to Anne were her family, her friends, and her faith. She will be remembered most profoundly for her devotion to others. Anne had an open door policy for her extended family and her friends – a place where they could stay at any time, and have a home-cooked meal. Anne will also be remembered for her sharp wit and keen sense of humour, her love of story telling, her silly jokes, and the impromptu history lessons of her life growing up on the farm. Anne left behind a legacy of caring for others, unconditional love, and beautiful narratives of her memories with her beloved Jack, which her family and grandchildren will cherish always.
A service honouring Anne’s life will be held on Saturday, April 14th at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue in Winnipeg, MB. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, donations can be made in Anne’s memory to CancerCare Manitoba or to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba.
Her daughters would like to thank everyone for their support and well wishes during their mom’s illness, as well as, the care she received by the wonderful staff at Golden Links Lodge.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Anne Triethart 2018.source
