Anna Cruesemann 2018

OBITUARY
Anna Cruesemann
August 28, 1928 – July 31, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anna Cruesemann at the age of 89 years young. She is predeceased by her loving husband Carl. Anna was the last of her 7 siblings, Lisa, Gustav, Hans, Erna, Greta, Fritz and Berta. She is survived by her 3 children, Ralph (Karen) and his children Angie and Steve, Carla (Chris) and their children, Rachel and Mason, and Andrea (Mark) and their children Corbin and Hayden (Carlee). Anna has 2 beautiful great granddaughters, Myckaela and Macoah.
Anna was born in East Prussia on August 14, 1928. A survivor of WW11, Anna and her family fled from the Russians to finally settle in Germany, where she met and married her husband Carl. Anna and Carl moved to Canada from their homeland over 62 years ago not speaking a word of English. They found their way to Kelowna, where they were fortunate enough to have met so many European friends. Anna worked nights at the packing plant for a number of years, all the while raising the family, growing her garden, canning, knitting, sewing clothes, chasing chickens, chopping wood and making her beloved traditional meals for all to enjoy.
Mom loved nothing more than to be in her garden. Her beautiful roses, parsley, vegetable and fruit garden were her pride and joy. You could see her yelling and chasing the squirrels out of her beloved Walnut trees. Anna had her signature ”Humming” that she would be doing whenever she was cleaning or on her own. She loved to read and imagine where the locations of the stories that she was reading about.
Mom has always been the go-getter, with her kids always trying to keep up with her. Mom had her loving way of saying “Hello Dahling” when she would see you, to saying “Shut up”, when her favorite show would be on. She had a fantastic sense of humor along with such a hearty laugh. She would love to play pick up sticks and having Easter Egg Hunts with the grandkids, using her own set of “Omi rules”.
She would always tell it like it was, whether you wanted to hear it or not or whether it was appropriate or not. She was never one to feel sorry for herself for any situation. And if you were sore, keep moving, and don’t cry about it.
Throughout the years, we would often have our school friends stop by to visit and she would always enjoy their company, although she had a hard time believing that people really enjoyed her company. Even in to her 80s, mom would be still be seen chopping wood, shoveling the driveway, pulling the weeds, yelling at the Deer in her backyard and racing to catch that darn bus.
Our entire family is blessed to have such a support from her dear friends; Nick and Eileen Radelfinger, Kathy Wolf, Renata Krause and Erika Stotz. We would especially like to honor Mary and Frank Schamerhorn and Jan Fransen, whom we cannot thank enough for always being there and being the constant for her throughout the years.
To mom, her family was the most important. She will be dearly missed by all those that knew her.
A celebration of Life will be held at Anna’s home on Saturday, September 1, 2018 @4:00, for a joyful time of good laughs and wonderful stories and to say a final Auf Wiedersehen.
In Lieu of flowers, Anna would appreciate you spending time with your loved ones or a donation the Cancer Foundation.
