Obituary Overview
Amy Cummine
November 19, 1993 to July 8, 2018
On July 8, 2018, we said goodbye to our beautiful daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend.
Amy lived her life with strength, resilience and passion. She experienced more in her 24 years than most people would in 100 years. Her short time here was not about material things; it was about sharing time with the people in her life. She took nothing for granted and lived each day to the fullest; no matter how challenging it was or how much pain she was in, she always held out hope for a better day tomorrow.
She did not let cystic fibrosis define her. She was determined to participate fully in the many activities that filled her life. Through baseball, badminton, dance and riding; she displayed a fiercely competitive spirit and enjoyed the many friends she made along the way.
She loved taking vacations to sunny destinations, in particular, her Hawaiian cruise. She valued the time she spent at the barn with her horses, especially with Queenie. When at the barn with her horse, she was able to forget all her troubles and enjoy the moment!
Some of Amy’s most treasured times were attending Dauphin’s Countryfest, her high school days at Oak Park and going to concerts with friends. Life was more about the people she was with than the event she was attending.
Amy adored her dog Lucy. She was her sidekick and best friend. She never failed to put a smile on Amy’s face.
Throughout her life, Amy was active in the CF community, raising money and awareness. Among her many volunteer activities, she hosted the Breath of Life Ladies Golf Classic with Troy Westwood for 15 years.
Amy’s perseverance and relentless work ethic allowed her to pursue her career as an Educational Assistant. The students and staff that worked with her will forever be better for knowing her.
Amy was beautiful, both inside and out. Her radiant smile would light up a room and her laugh was infectious. Amy was genuine to the core. She fought with all her might to be a positive presence for those around her. She was a friend that could be counted on. She never seemed to have a bad day, even though you knew that she had many. The strength and beauty she could summon was truly inspirational. Those who knew her will remember this forever. She had no idea how many lives she touched and the lasting impression she left.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the PICC team, nurses, doctors and staff on H6 at HSC for their many years of care and compassion.
A celebration of Amy’s life will be held on Sunday, July 22 at 7:00 pm at The Gates on Roblin, 6945 Roblin Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Canada – Winnipeg, 175 Hargrave Street, Suite 305, Winnipeg Manitoba, R3C 3R8 or the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg Manitoba R3T 0R3.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,
but by the moments that take our breath away.
Breathe easy, Amy, breathe free.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Amy Cummine 2018.source
